ADDING CHARACTER WORK TO PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE

This workshop will focus on the intersection of ”Character Work” with ”Being Oneself” onstage. One of the greatest skills Strangely has is deriving interesting moments regardless of the particular skill being demonstrated. Much of this grows out of the American Street Performing style with a stronger focus on comedy, character and audience engagement, rather than the showcasing of a particular skill.

Will include: Theatre/Movement/Improvisational Games, Some Explanatory Sections and Interactive Demonstrations

THE UKULELE WITH STRANGELY

This will be an hour-long workshop introducing students to the basic playing techniques for the ukelele (An instrument featured heavily in work by both artists), no experience needed. Please inform us if you don´t have own ukulele.

This is a one-on-one workshop where-in Strangely can teach anyone interested in learning how to play the accordion, a basic introduction to the parts, techniques and where to go for more information. No musical expertise or accordion needed.

SONGWRITING WITH AARON J. SHAY

Acclaimed Northwest Songwriter Aaron J. Shay has over 10 years of experience working in the Folk, Punk, Rock and Pop genres. This workshop will be an introduction to the basic theory of song construction, as well as providing a basic musical and literary aspects of songwriting. This will be aimed at musicians, but should prove entertaining and informative to any performers interested in working with musicians as well.

PERFORMING AND IMPROVISING WITH LIVE MUSICIAN(S) WITH AARON & STRANGELY

Strangely and Aaron will demonstrate various types of non-verbal and musical communication that go into an improvised (and by extension non-improvised) act incorporating live music.
